He is Risen!
Easter Sunday is a day like no other day! Sin was defeated. The grave was emptied and death was conquered. Can you imagine what it must have been like that first Easter morning when Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb? Can you imagine the range of emotions that she felt? John 20:2 tells us that after seeing the empty tomb Mary ran to get help and came upon Simon Peter. Her words describe the horror she felt, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”
She went to that tomb as a grieving woman and left in despair. But a few verses later the Bible tells us that Mary announced the hope of Jesus Christ. John 20:18 says, “Mary Magdalene came announcing to the disciples ‘I have seen the Lord…’” Hope had returned, and life would never be the same.
Bill and Gloria Gather wrote a song that was released in 1971 entitled Because He Lives. Consider these words from that song.
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
Because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, hope has returned, life has meaning and purpose and we are most blessed.
Today, let’s celebrate together that Jesus is alive and that all of our enemies are defeated. In fact, when you go to your church today, greet the church family with the declaration “He is risen, He is risen indeed”.
Have a wonderful Easter day!
